@ Cathkin Braes

To finish off my 5-part blog, the final dog walking recommendation that I have is The Cathkin Braes Country Park.

Located in the South East of Glasgow, The Cathkin Braes Country Park covers a large area of 199 hectares. The park is situated 200 meters above sea level making it the highest point in Glasgow. It is known for its panoramic views over the city and on a clear day you can even see many familiar mountain peaks.

The Cathkin Braes is the perfect place to take your dogs if you are looking to enjoy the great outdoors. The park offers dog walkers different paths, woodland areas and grassland to include into their stroll. It is likely to appeal to the welly wearing dog walkers who don't mind mind their dogs getting mucky paws. Cathkin Braes is one of the more challenging walks, due to some exceptionally hilly terrain which certainly does the trick of tiring out the pups and burning some calories!

On my visit we parked in the free on site carpark and walked a total of 4km passing the wind turbine, Queen Mary's Seat and the Commonwealth Games mountain bike trail. The dogs loved the diverse walk through the woods, grass and heath as it gave them so much to explore. The only problem is that there is no circular route to take so I would say that it is best to plan your route out before you start. I would also recommend making sure you wrap up as it is quite windy and exposed out on the open grassland. Finally, make sure that you prepare for very dirty dogs at the end of your walk!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog,
