Mugdock Country Park is located 8 miles north of Glasgow City near Milngavie and covers an area of 260 hectares. This is definitely an excellent walk to take your furry friends on as as there is so much to explore including woodland paths, wide open spaces, ponds and stunning views.
There are various connecting trails of both hilly and flat terrain that you can take your puppies on at Mugdock Country Park. The routes range from 1 to 10km so you can decide which one you want to take depending on if you are out for a light stroll or to reach your daily step goal. The route that I decided to take was 5km in total starting at the main carpark, past the pond, along woodland paths, through a wide open field overlooking the Mugdock Loch and back to the starting point which was perfect for a fresh Sunday wander!
Beside the beautiful scenery there are many benefits that Mugdock Country Park has to offer dog walkers including: free parking, on and off lead areas, picnic spots and water to swim in on route. Mugdock Park is the perfect place to take dogs who enjoy a swim break mid walk. My Labrador Roxy is always head first into any bit of water she spots (see picture above) so this is definitely somewhere that we love to take her as a treat.
Not only is Mugdock Country Park a good day out for the pooches but also for the owners. There are many different sites to see including Mugdock Castle, Mugdock Loch and the WW2 Gunsites. Additionally families also have the choice of exploring the different trails and orienteering courses that are available. Another way to keep the children occupied at the park whilst the dogs are getting some exercise is by taking them to the playpark and adventure trail.
